Arcio
Context
Arcio is a cataloguing and publishing platform for museums and art galleries. It gives staff and volunteers one clear place to record objects, artworks, photographs and documents, then publishes them to a public, searchable website in English and French. Records stay in the language they were written in, and Arcio translates names, materials and classifications for visitors. Archives, historical societies and heritage sites use it too.
Small collections often live in spreadsheets, binders and filing cabinets. Bilingual institutions end up doing the work twice. Arcio imports existing Excel or CSV records, tidies spelling variants, flags duplicate accession numbers, and gets a collection online in days.
The audience is community museums, galleries, historical societies and volunteer-run heritage sites, so the product asks for no technical skills. One record form covers objects and artworks alike. Storage locations and condition notes stay private, records stay as drafts until published, and data can be exported as CSV at any time.
The brand borrows from the spaces it serves: warm cream paper tones, a teal and terracotta palette, a literary serif paired with a clean sans, and photography of galleries, arches and historic sites. The product is shown through live, animated interface mockups rather than static screenshots. Museums and galleries each get their own public template, one built around objects and history, the other around artworks and artists.
